Advancing Equity through Learning Assessment: Setting the Foundation and Enhancing the Capacity
Description
The symposium will explore how a large research university has utilized assessment tools to advance equity on campus. It will cover (1) a methodology for identifying and classifying equitable assessment practices, including guidelines for defining Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in one’s own context; (2) a case study of a science program's use of assessment to identify and address equity gaps; and (3) institutional strategies for disseminating resources and providing professional training to enhance capacity for programs to investigate and advance equity in their context. The audience will take away concrete strategies to advance equity through assessment at the campus level.
