Name
Surveying the Landscape of AI in Higher Education
Description
The popularization of generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Midjourney raises important questions about how students perceive and use AI tools. In this session, we will provide evidence-based insights derived from a survey taken by over 7,000 students at San Diego State University in early fall 2023. Participants will engage with one another to brainstorm and discuss collaborative strategies for AI’s academic uses that are informed by insights from dedicated AI Faculty and Student Fellows. This session aims to empower both faculty and students by suggesting strategic approaches to AI technologies that tailor instruction to empirically determined student needs, promote engagement, and foster success.
