Once a decade, the WASC Senior College and University Commission revises its Standards of Accreditation. While that process is crucial to the continuous development of the agency and its member institutions, it is only a first step: how the Standards are interpreted and implemented are equally important.
During this plenary presentation, Commissioners and staff will:
- Review the development and approval process for the 2022 Standards
- Explain the key changes in the 2022 Standards compared to the 2013 Standards
- Review the draft Institutional Self-Study and Report Process (IRP) for reaffirmation
- Review the draft Companion Guide which elaborates on the issues an institution may consider as it goes through its self-study and writes its report
- Explain the organization of the new Handbook of Accreditation and its timeline for adoption, in which the IRP will be embedded
Complementing this presentation, during each concurrent block of the conference there will be a session for institutions to offer comment, ask questions, and continue to explore this evolving process of implementation. This plenary provides the framework for all member institutional representatives to learn about and prepare to ask questions/comment on how institutions will adopt and embrace the 2022 Standards.
