Michael Obermire, a native Californian, is a 1983 graduate of California State University at Fresno with a B. S. in Industrial Engineering. In 2007, he received his MBA at California State University, Sacramento.
From 1983 to 1996, Mr. Obermire held various executive level positions in Industrial Engineering, Operations, and Sales, at a California based valve and steel fitting manufacturer.
Mr. Obermire began his career with USS-POSCO Industries in 1996 as the Manager of Sheet Products in Northern California. In 1998, he was named General Manager - Sales and Marketing of Tin Products, and in 1999 was named to the executive position of Director of Business Services. In 2012 he was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing, responsible for the sales, marketing, and new market development of all sheet products worldwide. He retired from UPI in 2016.
In 2014 Mr. Obermire began his education career at CSU, Sacramento, teaching Marketing in the Executive MBA program. He continued teaching in the CSUS graduate and undergraduate business program until 2019. In 2016, Mr. Obermire joined Jessup University as an adjunct professor in the School of Business, teaching in the graduate and undergraduate programs. In 2025, he became the Program Director for Undergraduate Programs in the School of Business and joined the Presidents Council. He is also the Academic Business Manager at the university, helping manage the business side of Jessup.
He is a member of the American Marketing Association and the faculty advisor for the Jessup AMA Marketing club.
