Christiane C. Schubert, MS, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine and holds a secondary appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies within the School of Behavioral Health. She is also a Faculty Scholar at the Institute for Health Policy and Leadership at Loma Linda University Health. Her academic journey began with a career as a Medical Technologist (MTA) in both Germany and the United States, where she worked in bone research. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Northern Arizona University, followed by a PhD in Social Policy and Social Research with a concentration in bioethics from Loma Linda University in 2008.
Dr. Schubert has taught graduate-level courses in the social sciences and previously served as a PhD Program Director in the School of Behavioral Health. Before joining the School of Medicine in 2014, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in human factors engineering at the Center for Research in Innovation in Systems Safety at Vanderbilt University. Her research focuses on human factors and ergonomics in healthcare, applying systems engineering frameworks to study chronic illness management. She also investigates expert-novice differences in macrocognition through cognitive engineering and decision-making methodologies.
Outside of her academic and research pursuits, Dr. Schubert has developed expertise in conflict mediation and restorative justice. She enjoys hiking and spending time with friends.
