Dr. Teshia Roby serves as the Associate Provost for Academic Innovations and Programs at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo. In this role, Dr. Roby oversees several key areas, including Academic Programs and Planning, the Center for Teaching, Learning & Technology (CTLT), the University Honors Program, the Cal Poly International Center, and Service Learning. She is responsible for ensuring the quality and strategic alignment of courses and programs, fostering faculty development, and promoting innovative approaches to student learning experiences. Dr. Roby also plays a critical role in Cal Poly’s academic assessment processes and co-leads initiatives tied to the California State University System and the university's strategic goals including, instructional materials accessibility compliance, the Cal Poly/Cal Maritime campus integrations, and the Black Student Success Initiative.
Dr. Roby’s research focuses on student-centered course design, culturally responsive and inclusive pedagogies, and leveraging data to enhance the student experience. As a founding faculty member of Cal Poly Pomona's first doctoral program, she taught courses on digital equity, advocacy through leadership, actionable insights using K-12 data, and leadership through evidence-based decision-making.
Dr. Roby holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Clemson University, an MBA from Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business, and a master’s and Ph.D. in Education from Georgia State University’s College of Education and Human Development. Dr. Roby remains committed to advancing student success, supporting professional growth, and fostering innovative, inclusive learning environments across higher education. She is chair of the ACE Women’s Network of Southern California Advisory Council and board member for ACE Women’s Network of Southern California.
