Leveraging AI Tutoring to Bridge Equity Gaps and Engage Learners
Description
Many first-year programming courses in SJSU's College of Engineering experience high failure rates and equity gaps. This project introduces the use of an AI Tutoring tool designed to provide personalized, judgment-free support for students with limited programming experience. The tool aims to strengthen students' problem-solving ability and foundational coding skills early in their academic journey thus building their self-efficacy, sense of belonging and persistence in engineering pathways - especially among first-generation college students.
