Greg Childers is the Director of General Education and Professor of Physics at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). As Director of General Education, he provides leadership and support while working with all campus partners to respond to evolving requirements by building a resilient and responsive general education program that preserves our campus commitment to breadth in undergraduate education. He joined the Department of Physics at CSUF in 2002 after completing a Ph.D. in Atomic Physics at the University of Kentucky. He played a key role revitalizing curriculum for both physics majors and non-majors and served as the undergraduate advisor for the department. In addition to numerous other committee assignments, he served on the CSUF General Education committee for 11 years, including five terms as chair of the committee, led the Assessment Committee for the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics for nine years, and served on the CSUF Academic Senate since 2017. He was designated the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Outstanding Untenured Faculty Member in 2009 and received the 2022 CSUF John W. “Jack” Bedell Faculty Leadership in Collegial Governance award.
