Name
Stirred, Not Shaken: San Diego State University’s Integrated Approach to Student Success in the Brave New World of Generative Artificial Intelligence
Description
SDSU has embraced an integrated approach to fostering student success in the emerging age of GenAI. In 2023, we launched a student survey (n=7,811), faculty/staff microcredential, and syllabus guidelines. Findings informed our 2024 development of a more inclusive student/faculty/staff survey (n=12,164), a student microcredential, a dedicated First Year Seminar session, and expanded faculty programming. Student survey comparisons indicate increased GenAI usage, largely positive GenAI learning impacts, and expanded GenAI learning opportunities within and beyond courses. Session participants will learn about our approach and findings, share their emerging approaches, and develop a GenAI action plan for their institution.
