Student Involvement in Writing Placement Assessment
Description

Writing placement tests are critical in determining students’ academic trajectories, particularly in their first year. Recognizing the need for a more inclusive and accurate assessment, UCLA Writing Programs implemented the Informed Placement Process (IPP), involving students in the process. This new approach reimagines traditional placement methods by integrating an equity-minded, multi-layered assessment that combines student self-assessment with faculty evaluation. Participants will hear about the process, the initial findings, and lessons learned.
