As the U.S. population becomes increasingly diverse, higher education institutions focus more on promoting equity in student outcomes by fostering inclusive learning environments. At California State University, Dominguez Hills, we have been developing guidelines to integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into academic program assessment. This presentation will first outline how assessment frameworks can be revised to explicitly incorporate DEI goals, ensuring alignment with the university’s core values and strategic plans. We will then present direct and indirect data highlighting disparities in student learning outcomes, emphasizing culturally inclusive assessment practices. Finally, we will provide actionable recommendations for academic programs to achieve more equitable learning outcomes.
