The pandemic revealed inequities in our communities around access to the internet, affordable connectivity, and reliable devices. While the digital divide has gained awareness as a basic need, universities are not equipped to address it systematically. Students have uneven access to the resources that they need to be successful in class and in the workforce. This session will describe how institutional research and assessment offices can leverage data-driven insights to identify gaps, bridge access to digital tools and resources, influence campus and national policy, implement targeted interventions, and ensure all students and stakeholders benefit from digital inclusion. Presenters will share approaches to engaging the community in needs assessment and adoption through a $5.3M grant from National Telecommunications and Information Administration.
