Jacqueline Brooks is an Associate Professor of Sociology. She has substantive experience teaching sociology in various classroom environments from small, private liberal arts colleges to large, public universities. Her scholarship addresses the experiences of marginalized groups, highlighting intersecting forms of oppression. Her co-authored reader, Race and Ethnicity: The Sociological Mindful Approach was published in 2020. She has generated multiple teaching materials that assist the campus learning community. Dr. Brooks’ current research focuses on the relationship between college and university campus climates and student success. This research agenda highlights the experiences of historically marginalized student populations. Dr. Brooks serves as the Project Director for the Pathways Fellows Program at Sacramento State university. The Pathways Fellows Program is a federally funded grant, supported by IES, that helps Fellows gain entry to a doctoral program in education research. She is a graduate of the WSCUC Assessment Leadership Academy (Cohort X). Further, Dr. Brooks is a co-campus representative for the CSU-wide Social Science Research and Instructional Council, and the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research. In both roles she fortifies student access to quantitative and qualitative research instructional materials and data.
