Dr. Caron Inouye is the Associate Dean of Academic Programs, Curriculum and Assessment at the CSU Office of the Chancellor. Dr. Inouye previously served at Cal State East Bay as Director of General Education and Chair of General Studies, during which she oversaw the operation and assessment of the GE program and First-Year Experience program. Also previously serving as Professor of Biological Sciences, Dr. Inouye first joined the Cal State East Bay faculty in 2001 and has been a leader in transformative changes in curriculum, pedagogy, and outcomes assessment; an advocate for STEM education; and a PI or co-PI on multiple grants focused on the retention and academic success of historically underserved and first-generation students. Her areas of scientific expertise include environmental toxicology, physiology, ornithology, and educational research. Dr. Inouye earned both her PhD and BS degrees in biology from UCLA.
