Dr. Helen Hopp Marshak serves as the Associate Provost for Loma Linda University. She served as the Dean of the Loma Linda University School of Public Health from 2015 to 2022. Her research and practice interests include evaluation of tobacco control programs for the States of California and Washington, and more broadly, identifying social and personal factors that place people at risk, or generate resilience. She has served as an external evaluator on multiple California Tobacco Control Program (CTCP) projects over the last two decades, primarily for the local lead agencies of the Inland Empire in Southern California. She served as an exam item writer on the first National Board of Public Health Education Certified in Public Health (CPH) Exam, for the behavioral and social science section, and was Vice Chair of the LLU Institutional Review Board for 14 years and a member for 17 years. She has served as a site visitor on multiple visits for the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), the accreditation agency for schools and programs of public health, since 2015 and as member of the CEPH Board of Councilors (2022). She has served as an on-site survey team member for the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Education Department, and the General Conference of SDAs World Health Advisory and Health Ministries Executive Committee as well as on the Board for the Institute for the Prevention of Addiction. She served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at LLU SPH prior to becoming Dean, and as a faculty member in health education since she arrived at LLU in 1991.
