Research Universities Partnering with Community Colleges to Prepare Excellent Transfer Students: Fostering Strong Relationships
Description
The UCLA Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) supports our member community colleges’ honors/scholars programs and their students’ transfer to UCLA. To deepen this relationship between our campus and our CCC partners, UCLA’s Division of Undergraduate Education piloted a special event. Faculty, administrators, and staff from both UCLA and Santa Monica College gathered to discuss how transfer students become particularly well prepared for their undergraduate careers at UCLA, considering research participation, advising, our College Honors program, pedagogy enhancement in preparatory courses, and General Education learning outcomes. Our findings will be discussed, as well as our proposed next steps for this kind of event.
