This workshop or symposium features the value that scholar-practitioners and part-time faculty members bring to the classroom, especially for working adult students who seek real-world experience and connect with leaders in their fields. Professional development models and practices of intentional inclusion are not just for full-time faculty. In this workshop or symposium we’ll provide examples, survey results, connect that work with student achievement, and convene ideas for greater inclusion and teaching effectiveness.

A weekly Professional Learning Community titled The Development Dish, is offered by the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC). Goals of the “Dish" are to support faculty and staff currently engaged in course development, answer process-related questions, provide innovative and engaging curricular strategies to support primarily non-traditional students, and foster a sense of community, During this Session, participants will learn how the Development Dish encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and provides a venue to discuss best practices in course design and delivery for faculty at UAGC. Additionally, conversation will be centered around how content learned during The Development Dish is informing rigorous course design that is aligned with a non-traditional student population to advance student learning and prepare graduates for career success.
