Industry-University Student Bridging: A Data Driven Program Development and Management
Description

Many universities offer placement - but not university-industry bridging; offer high school bridging courses, but not employment bridging courses. We found 38.9% of 13,777,600 Kenyan Youth jobless; demand for cyber experts was 10,000 against 1700 supply; many idle IT graduates are cybercriminals but companies report 53% shortage of cyberskills; out of 551, 82% had bachelors degree, 6% masters, 6% diploma, but only 6% had necessary certifications. In phase 3, USIU (Academia), Serianu (industry), and Kenya Bankers Association (user), implemented data heavy "Cyber Shujaa (heroes)" program to enhance youth employment, entrepreneurship, and promotion to use individual level dashboards, program level MEL data, and research surveys to inform decisions and scaling.  The session will engage participants in an FGD and discuss contextual applicability.
