USIU faced many shocks - a letter of concern, Westgate bombing, COVID 19 and leadership transitions. USIU's 3 pillar governance structure (Faculty, Staff, and Student Councils) enhanced institutional capacity. While WASC letter of concern was destabilizing, USIU adapted by developing an outcomes alignment framework leading to its highest WASC accreditation. When Westgate bombing suffocated its international students, faculty and staff, it quickly adopted technology infrastructure across all activities which cushioned against COVID 19 shocks. But COVID 19 led to systemic capacity building. Lessons from shocks and adaptive governance structures, alignment framework, technology infrastructure, and capacity building contributed to resilience against current rapid leadership transitions. How can virtual systems enhance this resilience?
