Julie Stein is the Director of Educational Effectiveness in Academic Programs and Services at
California State University, East Bay. Julie has a B.S. in Industrial Psychology and an M.S. in Human Resources Management with over 30 years combined experience in educational leadership in large Bay Area companies and in university, assessment, accreditation, and instruction.

Her work focuses on university accreditation, institutional assessment, and improving faculty instruction and curriculum through collaborative, equitable approaches. Her academic experience includes consulting for the CSU Chancellor’s office on General Education reform in California, graduating from the WSCUC Assessment Leadership Academy, being a peer-evaluator on a WSCUC accreditation visiting team, and contributing to the work resulting in Cal State East Bay’s Excellence in Assessment award from NILOA in 2021. Julie has conducted over 25 academic conference presentations on innovations in teaching, learning, and assessment, contributed to business, communication, and college success
textbooks, co-authored academic publications on assessing competencies, and authored a
business publication on teaching in business and education.
