Reframing Classic Pedagogies for Student-Centered Learning
Description

This session explores strategies for reframing classic pedagogies such as lecturing, reading assignments and discussion for student-centered learning. Student-centered pedagogies promote deep learning, yet faculty often do not realize their pedagogies are faculty-centered. When faculty use student-centered pedagogies, students develop a sense of belonging that increases their persistence, academic success, motivation, and responsibility. Along with better student outcomes, student-centered pedagogies also create opportunities for gathering usable, real-time student learning assessment data.
