Reimagining Undergraduate Online Mathematics Courses at a Health Sciences Institution Utilizing Adaptive Learning, Content Mastery, and Reflection
Description
Math course requirements are frequently a barrier to success for undergraduate students (Strauss, 2017). With the lack of college readiness increasing and online math course success rates plummeting in fully online programs at West Coast University (WCU), a health sciences institution, WCU reimagined online math courses. The new online math curriculum focuses on content mastery utilizing adaptive learning, reflections, LinkedIn Learning, non-traditional discussions, and career application to bolster student success rates by more than 25%.
