In this study we examine open-ended responses of First-Generation college students (n = 516) and their impressions and sentiments towards college life, classroom experiences, and academic opportunities at a Hispanic Serving Institution. We used a mixed methods, cross-sectional design to examine data that was initially collected from a standardized survey instrument. We use a mixed methods approach to examine codes and themes. The findings from this study are intended to guide policy decision making.
