This presentation will navigate across various challenges in effectively managing program learning objectives at an institutional level of assessment, within the program, and into the classroom activities. A specific focus will be given to show how diverse learners can achieve program learning objectives through equitable progression of the concepts, skills, and knowledge we want our students to takeaway upon graduation.

Surveys from scholarly research indicate that students often experience limited involvement in formal assessment processes in higher education. While researchers have responded with recommendations for involving students in assessment, accreditation standards do not explicitly state the need or importance of taking such actions. This session will address the problem by exploring existing suggestions for student involvement in formal assessment processes. After an open discussion about implications and challenges, attendees will share additional ideas for including students in their assessment plans.
