Dr. Michael Barr is Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs at The Chicago School. His areas of responsibility include academic program review, new program development, program modifications, the academic catalog, learning management system course production, articulation agreements, The University Library, and the Service Members’ Center for Academic Resources and Support.
Michael joined The Chicago School in 2001 as director of the school’s Consulting Center and program faculty in the MA IO program, later serving as the Director of Executive and Professional Education, coordinating and providing education and counsel to scores of companies, executives, psychologists, and other professionals looking to advance their businesses and develop their talents each year. In 2010 he was appointed Department Chair for Business Psychology online programs. From 2013 to 2015, he was the executive director of the Business Psychology Programs and Dean of Academic Affairs for online programs at The Chicago School, transitioning to Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs in Fall 2014.
Prior to joining The Chicago School, Michael completed postdoctoral work as a research scientist developing certification testing for psychology technicians with the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation at the University of Chicago. His private practice encompasses leadership development, organizational assessment, job analysis, and test development. His consulting career began as an associate consultant with the Organizational Capability Group at BP Amoco, specializing in employee survey analysis and team effectiveness.
Michael is an industrial/organizational psychologist specializing in leadership and motivation. He received both an MS and PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
