Presentation 1 Title
Disaggregating Data, Uniting Divisions: Harnessing Analytics to Advance Equity and Student Success at Scale
Presentation 1 Description

San José State University is poised to leverage a proposed new demographic disaggregation feature in Nuventive, our institutional assessment platform, to illuminate equity gaps across curricular and co-curricular learning outcomes. This cross-divisional initiative—anchored by the Academic Affairs’ Director of Academic and Institutional Effectiveness, the Division of Student Affairs’ Director of Co-Curricular Learning, Educational Equity, and Assessment, and Senior Director, Institutional Research & Strategic Analytics—uses shared data systems to translate evidence into action. By linking demographic insights to resource allocation, program review, and Transformation 2030 strategic goals, SJSU is creating an equity-centered culture of continuous improvement. Participants will explore how technology, governance, and collaboration can transform assessment from compliance to compassion: from collecting data to changing outcomes, and supporting the success of all our students.

From Asynchronous to Engaged: The Power of Synchronous Learning in First-Year Success
Presentation 2 Description

This session explores how synchronous “Live Learning” sessions enhance student academic success in online higher education. Drawing on multi-year data from over 60,000 students, findings show live sessions most benefit first-year and historically underserved populations. Attendees will gain actionable strategies for integrating synchronous instruction into course design, faculty development, and policy, leaving with practical ideas to strengthen persistence and equity at their own institutions.
