Name
How a Change in Testing Modality Can Lead to Improved Student Learning and Improved Licensure Passage Within a Student Centered, Student Success Focused, and Opportunity Mission California Accredited Law School
Description
Due to COVID-19 UWLA’s School of Law was required to reexamine the purpose and role of examinations in a law school. Moving from a historical traditional high-stakes examination modality modeled upon the California General Bar Examination (Closed book, Proctored, and Time Restricted) to a more functional formative assessment driven model (Open Book, Unproctored, and Additional Time) has led to measurable improvement in Licensure (Bar Passage), increased retention, and has not resulted in grade inflation.
