Members of the Center for Higher Education Mergers and Acquisitions recently published, ‘Leading Existential Change in Higher Education: Mergers, Closures and other Major Institutional Restructuring’ (JHU Press, 2025). Through leader interviews, data analysis, and case studies we analyzed the factors leading to considering and undertaking mergers and acquisitions as future-oriented growth strategies in higher education.
