Bio
Dr. Suij-Ojeda is an accomplished educator with a Ph.D. in education specializing in language didactics. She holds two master's degrees, one in Spanish reading and writing, and another in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). Over her 27-year career, she has worked as a Spanish/English teacher, teacher educator, and ELT consultant in over 20 countries.
From 2003 to 2014, she held various roles at Universidad de Carabobo in Venezuela, including university professor, academic director, and teacher educator. She also led the modern language department, coordinating courses focused on language teaching and learning.
A member of VenTESOL since 1999, Dr. Suij-Ojeda served as president from 2013 to 2015 and continues to advise the organization. She is also an active member of the TESOL International Association. Her professional interests include professional development, blended learning, feedback, creative writing, and reading.
Dr. Suij-Ojeda is currently the Director of the Learning, Innovation, and Teaching Excellence (LITE) Center at Westcliff University.
