Hosted by PEN America, this session is the core of their Campus for All workshops. In this workshop, participants will:

• Lay a strong foundation for the legal framework of the First Amendment, principles of free speech and academic freedom, and unprotected speech such as harassment or threats.
• Learn PEN America’s philosophy and approaches for supporting a hospitable environment for free speech, academic freedom, and inclusive community in tandem on campus.
• Link free speech and academic freedom directly to the unique mission and goals of higher education.
