SIG: Faith-based Institutions
Description

Notions of student success are often limited to examining retention and graduation data disaggregated by student demographics. The current WSCUC standards around success are often summarized by the phrase "Do you know who your students are, and do you know how they are doing?" One way to answer this question is to use metrics related to a more expansive definition of success known as thriving. The notion of thriving that we will discuss is based on work done by a team led by Dr. Laurie Schreiner at APU. In this session we'll explore how one faith-based institution is making use of the definition of thriving to examine student success, and also have plenty of time for small and large group discussions about how these ideas might be applicable to your campuses.
