Dr. Doug Swanson is an APR-accredited public relations practitioner, teacher, and consultant. He worked for 12 years as a journalist in newspapers, radio, and television. He then transitioned to public relations agency work where he worked as a strategist, writer, and event planner. He earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Eastern New Mexico University, and an Ed.D from Oklahoma State University. Swanson has been teaching at the college level since 1990 and at Cal State Fullerton since 2010. He is the founder of CSUF's student-run advertising and public relations agency. Swanson is a graduate of the WASC Assessment Leadership Academy (Cohort IV) and is the author of the guide to developing, launching, and assessing the success of a college student-run agency: Real World Career Preparation: A Guide to Creating a University Student-Run Communications Agency (2017, Peter Lang Publishers).
