Come Together! Bringing Faculty Together to Improve Capacity for Learning Assessment Across Two Newly Partnered Institutions
Description

In July 2023, a merger between the University of Arizona (UA) and University of Arizona, Global Campus (UAGC) was finalized. To promote engagement, understanding, and collaboration among faculty and personnel from both institutions, a University of Arizona Council for Assessment (UCA) was convened and charged with advancing the University’s collective educational-assessment efforts. The UCA encourages engagement of faculty and staff in considering institutional and programmatic learning goals and the way that assessment results drive reflection and improvement. Early work revealed commonalities and differences in the ways that faculty and staff are involved in collecting and learning from assessment evidence, and council members are engaging in productive discussions about how we can learn from each other and increase our capacity for evidence-based improvement of learning. In this presentation, we will describe how the Council for Assessment is helping participants deepen their understanding of learning assessment and learn more about our institutional partnership, providing detail about the work of the group and our plans to build on this foundation.
