Dr. Michele Starkey is the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs & ALO at Woodbury University in Burbank, California. Prior to that she was the Associate Provost at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles. She earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and her master’s in mathematics, both from California State University, Long Beach, and taught college-level mathematics for over 15 years before moving into higher ed administration in 2013. Michele has led institutional level and program level assessment in various capacities since 2006. She has co-chaired the AICCU SAN Consortium since 2020. This group of California independent not for profit institutions meet regularly to discuss state authorization and professional licensure compliance. Her research interests include quantitative literacy, math anxiety, and assessment of student learning outcomes. Michele is author or co-author of numerous academic papers with a special emphasis on mathematics education, instruction techniques, assessment, and achievement.
