I am presently employed as a substitute teacher. I have been working in this position since 2016. I got my start in education as the adaptive physical education (P.E.) aide for my running coach and P.E. teacher in high school. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in English at the University of Arizona in Tucson and enjoyed an on campus tutoring job with the Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (S.A.L.T.) program. After college I enjoyed my first career in advertising and public relations for a boutique agency, specializing in Outdoor Sports and Recreation. I grew up in Southern California, and we enjoyed camping as a family.
I earned all of my credentialing units for the first tier of my credential under the Ryan Act, but when that was stopped I became a parent and had the blessing to focus on raising my son. After my first career I earned a Master of Arts in Education from Pepperdine University and fell in love with Special Education. I have a knack for working with children who have been labeled with behavioral disorders, emotional disturbances, and learning disabilities. As the lead elementary teacher for a school with The Help Group, I enjoyed teaching the students, working with Behavior Interventionists and Therapists, and training Paraprofessionals.
I have a passion for health, I love beachcombing, hiking, and I miss camping. I cook mostly from scratch at home, enjoy live music, drumming and dancing.
