Role of Accreditation in Supporting Equitable Student Success Through Transfer
Description

Over the past year, WSCUC has partnered with Sova and three of its member institutions to better understand the barriers and opportunities that institutions face in pursuing better and more equitable outcomes for today’s highly mobile learners.  Through a series of discussions with teams from each institution - California State University Bakersfield, University of Hawaiʻi, West Oʻahu, and University of La Verne - they explored:

  1. What are the biggest challenges and opportunities facing institutions when it comes to serving transfer students effectively?
  2. What does the transfer student landscape look like, and what does the complexity of this landscape mean for institutions seeking to create the conditions for greater transfer student success?
  3. What is the relationship between transfer student success efforts and institutional accreditation processes?
  4. Can accreditation play a role in supporting institutions seeking to improve equity and outcomes for transfer students, and if so, what should that look like?

This panel session will include representatives from Sova and three institutions sharing their learnings and takeaways from the project.
