The fields of faculty/educational development and assessment share a commitment to improving student learning. While they are often considered separate (or even conflicting) enterprises, leaders in these two areas are increasingly finding opportunities for collaboration to get all students to high levels of achievement.
People involved with assessment or faculty/educational development in any capacity are invited to join this SIG to consider how these activities can be integrated to advance our institutions’ educational missions. Inspired by the article “Better Together: How Faculty Development and Assessment Can Join Forces to Improve Student Learning” (Kinzie et al. 2019), we will reflect on how and where assessment and educational development activities are currently happening in our contexts, highlight examples of promising convergences, and identify opportunities to facilitate productive collaboration.
