The success of strategic planning hinges upon whether it incorporates inclusive decision-making and reflects the collective vision of diverse constituents. This is particularly challenging at large institutions. Our presentation details how Cal State Fullerton leveraged the “dual role” of data to facilitate an evidence-based strategic planning process that incorporated the voices of diverse community members. Data played the critical “dual role” as both input and output to facilitate strategic planning, not only helping set up a common framework through which campus discussions took place, but also ensuring the integration of multiple voices into a collective strategic plan. This approach reflected our commitment to inclusive and evidence-based decision-making, which ensured the strategic planning success.
